quilt top
adding it to the WIPs at www.freshlypieced.com
also trying out lily's quilts small blog meet today
Found the piecing of the rows really tough at the intersection of 4 squares, so they are not perfect, but OK ish.........need to read some more detail on how to sew tricky seams like that, any suggestions welcomed folks
My back is all sore and stiff due to not moving off the machine for 4 hours or so, silly really, must get up and stretch more, but trying not to stretch as far as the kitchen where I made tablet this week.
Tablet is a very hard relative of fudge and best known in Scotland
Guess I also made it to celebrate the continuing union of Scotland with the UK...hurrah ( any excuse )
Ingredients...sugar, butter, sugar, water, sugar, condensed milk, sugar and vanilla bean paste.
If I sat for 4 hours my ankles would be as big as my head. Your quilt is quite the explosion of color! Love it!
ReplyDeleteyep, explosion is a good word!
DeleteSo beautiful! Love that you used a bright solid as a background and not white! I looked long and hard and your matching looks way better than OK ish!! I think it looks fabulous :) Beautifully done. I forget to get up too when I get into quilting or sewing. The only thing that saves me is ironing after most seams - makes me at least get up from the chair if only for a few minutes.
ReplyDeleteyep, some days ironing is the only exercise I get......doesnt seem to burn off many calories though
DeleteWow! I really love your wedding ring quilt, it's worth all those hours you have just spent! That blue is amazing!
ReplyDeletethanks, started with a scrap of blue fabric,,,which I then found it was out of production, so had to start again. Improv style is OK until you run out of background....
DeleteThat is a lovely wedding ring top, I like the blue as a background, it looks perfect! (By the way, I tried to reply to your comment on my blog, but found that you are a no-reply blogger... but maybe that is intentional?)
ReplyDeleteOMG, I keep trying to correct this, I've had another go now, sorry
Deletethe blue background makes it the perfect pop of color, what lucky recipients. I prefer the look of your rings to those that have a large block at the intersections- the trade is they are a bit tricky. Looks great
ReplyDeleteYep, had to resist applique shapes to cover the botch up junctions
DeleteYum!! Both for the quilt and the Tablet. Love the blue background of the double wedding ring quilt.
ReplyDeletetablet is almost gone now, sadly
DeleteThis is really lovely! What an accomplishment...
ReplyDeletethanks Debbie
DeleteI love your double wedding ring! I have one in progress myself, so this is good inspiration for me to start working on mine again.
ReplyDeleteyep, get going Andrea!
DeleteGood for you! I have never made a double wedding ring. Quite an accomplishment for sure.
ReplyDeleteI was sure happy to hear the news about Scotland : )
I am 1/4 scottish, so please with the result of the referendum
DeleteLovely! I'm working on my first double wedding ring using the quick curve ruler...it is a lot of piecing! Well done!
ReplyDeleteis the ruler good?
DeleteI like your DWR very much. I suspect only you see the goobers at the junctions.
ReplyDeleteJust saw you use the Judy Niemeyer template/pattern and love the way you turned it into a paper piecing pattern. Brilliant! I am going to order her templates and get started!
That's great to hear you are going to be DWR positive soon!
ReplyDeleteI love the blue background fabric, very fresh.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, love the colours!
