No quilts, just food
Borough market on a Thursday, what a relief from the Saturday madness we usually experience.
Lovely to wander around calmly not having to fight through crowds of ( other ) foodies. We were on a mission to buy as much loveliness as possible and get it back home on the train before it started to warm up.
As luck had it the day was freezing, so shuddering in my spring cardie, we mooched around.
Robyn, my daughter was fascinated mainly with the fruit and veg displays, luscious tumbling mounds of goodness.
She chose fresh figs, apples and some rambutans for their spikiness; I went for salsify - don't know how to cook it, but thats what the internet is for after all. Suggestions welcomed.
Boar and cranberry pie, mountains of handmade fudge, and a nice little vacpac of squirrel. Will turn that into a little tiny red wine casserole for one as can't persuade anyone to join me as yet. Cowards.
As we left we grabbed two huge roast meat rolls from Roast stall, roast pork crackling and apple sauce , and sirloin beef with horseradish cream and rocket
A quick mulled wine to keep frostbite off as we shivered back to the London Bridge
Here's the link for the market.

wave free motion
long time, no quilting
finally finished the wave quilting on this furoshiki
OK for a first go, but need to lose the grid lines in the future
Looking forwards to workshops at festival of quilts in august, always learn so much there
Daughter said my tracksuit bottoms were 'chavtastic ' today...don't think my USA friends would know the word 'chav'........guess what? it isn't a good thing!

Quilt as you go
Studied Ann Petersen's Craftsy video on big quilts with small machine to give this technique a go
Ann showed a method where the back sashing is machined by quilting in the ditch on the front edge sashing. Tried this, but my stitch line was messy and did not always catch the back sashing. So....had to resort to HAND SEWING edge of back sashing down....good grief, the effort !
Hope it holds; always remember my hand sewn border on my first quilt coming undone after a few nights of using the quilt, so I became a machine convert.
Dear daughter had her birthday this weekend...went for a cupcake type creation. She, of course, spent most of the day hunched over Facebook as she is now officially old enough to have an account, so I couldn't use her age as an excuse any more. Had to hunt a bit for 13th candle in the dusty recesses.......

Christmas quilts packed away now; finally dug out the quilt I started in the sumer when V taught me to foundation piece
Need to make a border
Chose block 136 from Carol Doak's 300 paper pieced blocks
Only another 49 blocks to go.........
Do you recognise the bottom fabric?
I loved reading hungry caterpillar to my daughter, so when I saw the print I had to have some

furoshiki number 2
P6JCXV5KWS2R
Had this lovely print from canton quilt works staring at me from the not quite put away fabric pile by the sofa; teamed it up with a turquoise kona cotton
made it 70x70 cm, which is better size to wrap my flask for work
at last an excuse to bring stitched fabric to work...
